Gina Marsh
Gina’s early career kicked off when she won a script writing competition and received funding for a short The Bodger which she produced and directed under the auspices of the National Film and Television School in the UK. She moved into documentaries, producing and directing arts programming for Tariq Ali’s company Bandung. Her work in the 90’s spanned many diverse locations including Spain, Morocco, Syria, and Ethiopia, fostering a deep understanding of global production challenges. Moving into drama production, she worked on foreign features, including acclaimed Spanish writer and director Pilar Miro’s Beltenebros (aka Prince of Darkness), starring Terence Stamp and Brazilian director Sergio Rezende’s biographical feature Maua, starring Paulo Betti. She was privileged to work with artist and filmmaker Derek Jarman on Wittgenstein (C4 / BFI), a low budget film where she also appears in a non speaking role.
Gina's experience working with international crews, especially in remote places, led to a producing role on BAFTA winning feature Touching the Void, a mountaineering film based on a true story, directed by Oscar winner Kevin MacDonald, filmed in the remote Andes of Northern Peru and the Alps. She also line produced Ghosts, directed by legendary documentary filmmaker Nick Broomfield, a drama filmed documentary style about the tragic drowning of Chinese cockle pickers in Morecambe Bay and nominated at Sundance. In 2007 she joined Oscar winning director Asif Kapadia in the frozen landscapes of the Arctic to line produce feature film Far North with Michelle Yeo and Sean Bean.
From icy wastelands Gina travelled to warmer climes, a production role in Malta in 2008 on Chilean-Spanish director Alejandro Amenabar’s ambitious feature film, Agora, starring Rachel Weisz. She has since returned many times to film in Malta, alongside a career in HETV on major award winning series, such as Downton Abbey, Broadchurch and The Tunnel. In 2018 she line produced legendary director Stephen Frear’s first foray into TV, A Very English Scandal, an award winning production starring Hugh Grant and Ben Wishaw. In the same year she joined London based production studio Sister as a Production Executive where she oversaw several productions, including Giri Haji (Netflix) filmed in Japan and Kaos (Netflix), starring Jeff Goldblum, filmed in Spain and Italy. Now freelance again, her most recent production is Honey, filmed in Lithuania, produced by Sid Gentle and currently in post production.
